I grew up in St. James Parish in Ferndale and attended grade school there. I was ordained a priest for the archdiocese of Detroit in 1969 after attending Sacred Heart Major Seminary for high school and college. I completed by theological studies at St. John’s Seminary in Plymouth. My first assignment as an associate pastor was at St. Angela’s parish in Roseville, followed by St. Paul’s in Grosse Pointe Farms. I was pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes in Waterford for 12 years, the founding pastor of St. James the Greater in Novi for 14 years, and pastor of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs for 6 years. One of the great experiences of my life was being given a sabbatical from Cardinal Szoka to study at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium in 1987. I came to St. Owen in July of 2009 where I encountered a very warm, welcoming congregation that has a wealth of strengths and strong Christian dedication. I feel privileged to follow so many wonderful priests who have served this parish and enriched it with their spirituality and devotion. My faithful little companion Joey is the most recent in a long line of Dachshunds whose companionship I have enjoyed since childhood. He especially enjoys the backyard, chasing squirrels and wondering how the deer got to be so tall!
